What Canary checks
- Indexability — an accidental
noindex(meta + X-Robots header) that drops pages from Google - Canonical — missing, pointing to a different host, or pointing to a 404
- Sitemap — reachable, valid XML, and sampled URLs actually live (not 404/500)
- robots.txt — is it accidentally blocking the entire site?
- SSL/HTTPS — certificate expired or expiring soon; site served without HTTPS
- Meta attribute leak — a
content="…"that swallows HTML and sends Googlebot into a 404 (a genuinely expensive class of bug) - Server health — 5xx/4xx on the homepage, slow response times
- Title, description, H1, lang, viewport, hreflang, mixed content, broken internal links
